Judith Stammer Kearney Endowed Scholarship
Judith Ann Stammer began attending the University of Nevada in the fall of 1956. She was a member of the Phil Beta Pi Sorority and left the University in 1958 after completing her sophomore year when she married William M. Kearney. She continued her education as family life would permit, and received an Associate Arts degree in Library Science from Macomb Community College in Michigan, after which she presented programs about and conducted workshops and seminars in cloth doll making and other recycled-fiber arts. Judy died in 1997 from injuries she received in a car accident and it is in her memory that her family created this fund to benefit female students who demonstrate financial need. Preference shall be given to an incoming freshman who is receiving no other scholarship support in her first year, are taking a minimum of 15 regularly scheduled credit hours per semester and have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 to be considered for this award. The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three additional years provided the recipient continues to meet annual credit and GPA minimums outlined above.
