Joan M. Comanor Endowed Scholarship
Created to honor Joan Comanor 74 (Renewable Natural Resources), who after graduating from Nevada, served in various management positions with the Bureau of Land Management and USDA Forest Service. The scholarship was established in 2000 by Peter Comanor to recognize the accomplishments of Joan in becoming the first professionally trained woman in renewable resources to hold the position of Deputy Chief of the U.S. Forest Service, and later Director of Resource Conservation & Community Development in the Natural Resources Conservation Service. This scholarship is intended for full-time female graduate students majoring in environmental and natural resource science programs. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and this scholarship is renewable for a second year.
