Olena Rougeau Endowed Scholarship
Superlatives are often overused in our society, from “superstar” to “pioneer.” But in the case of Olena Plummer Rougeau, both are certainly applicable. Olena died in 2001 following a bout with cancer. It is estimated that during her 27 years at Nevada, she taught, mentored and influenced more than 4,000 students. Family, friends and colleagues established this fund in her name to benefit junior, senior or graduate students within the College of Human and Community Sciences who has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients shall be working for a degree and/or profession that work with school age children. Preference shall be given to those who plan to work with children in the physical activity area.
