Claudia W. Hoffer & Arthur H. Williams Endowed Scholarship

Claudia Williams Hoffer 61 (education) 63 M.A. (counseling and education) went on to receive her Ph.D. in Psychology from Arizona State University and spent years working in her field. During her undergraduate days at Nevada, Claudia was a single mother of two children. She often struggled financially, but was able to find the resources to complete her degrees, and thus understands the difficulty single mothers face in pursuing their own educational goals. It is her genuine willingness to help, and the understanding of the struggles that women in this situation face, that she established this scholarship. Claudia’s son, Arthur Henderson Williams 66 (zoology) went on to receive his medical degree from McGill University in Canada. He is a currently a pathologist in Los Angeles, California. Recipients shall be single female mothers pursuing an undergraduate degree and be of junior or senior standing. Recipients shall also have a 3.0 grade point average to be considered for this award, be taking a minimum of 9 regularly scheduled credit hours each and demonstrate financial need.
