Honoring Bert M. Goldwater in Memory of Wayne Albert Goldwater Endowed
Judge Bert M. Goldwater 36 (economics) was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 1939 and he practiced both civil and criminal law. He was later appointed the United States Bankruptcy Judge in 1979. After retiring from the bench in 1982, he joined Lionel, Sawyer and Collins Law Firm, where he practiced private law for more than a decade. In 1994, Judge Goldwater was recalled to serve as a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, where he served on a year-to-year basis until his death in 2006. Judge Goldwater was preceded in death by son, Wayne Albert Goldwater. It is in honor of Judge Goldwater and in memory of his son, Wayne, that this endowment is established. Recipients shall be shall be full-time students with at least a 3.0 GPA.
