Dr. George Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Dr. George Smith lobbied long and hard to establish the University of Nevada School of Medicine in the 1960s. The early two-year program students felt deep gratitude to George and others who made their medical education possible. Dr. Joan Brookhyser 75M.D. established this fund in Dr. Smith s memory to benefit non-traditional students including single parents and students coming to medicine as a second career or at a later age than the average student.
