Dr. Charles Ross Pre-Medical Student Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Charles T. Ross attended Nevada from 1969 to 1973 and was active in student government, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and National Political Campaign (1972). He attended the UC Davis Medical School and then practiced with a group and on his own throughout the years in Carson City. He was an advocate for the homeless and uninsured in Carson City, where he started the FISH clinic (Friends in Service Helping). During his years of service, he refused to send a patient to collections if they were unable to pay. He died prematurely and unexpectedly at the age of 48. Recipients shall be pursuing a Health Sciences major in the School of Community Health Sciences within the Division of Health Sciences or admitted to the BSMD track at the University of Nevada, Reno. The award will rotate yearly between the two programs. Preference will be given to students from Nevada public schools.
