Carol Elaine Halley Mitchell Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

This memorial scholarship was established by Jenifer Christman in 2012, in honor of her mother and as a final tribute to her strength, humility and intellect. Carol 80 (nursing) was a single mother for many years, yet managed to put herself through school and simultaneously raise her daughter. She used her training as a nurse to care for patients with mental disabilities and other psychological disorders. Her daughter, Jenifer, and her nursing degree from Orvis were her two proudest accomplishments. Recipients shall have financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference shall be given to nursing students who are a single parent and who are pursuing their first baccalaureate degree.
