Jessie A. Turner Memorial Endowed Scholarship

In 2012, the Jessie A. Turner Memorial Scholarship was established by her parents. Jessie was a journalism student at the University of Nevada-Reno. She graduated in 2005 with a B.A., but then passed away in 2011 due to a long but courageous fight with brain/spinal cancer. During her battle with cancer, she never lost her spirit, grace, dignity, or sense of humor. While she was sick she always was concerned for others and giving back to those that helped her. It is with these qualities of Jessie’s life in mind that her parents wish to honor her memory and establish this scholarship. Recipients must be full-time students, exhibiting financial need, who are pursuing a journalism major in strategic communications with a 3.0 GPA.
