Jake Highton Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2015 by Jake Highton, who arrived at the University of Nevada, Reno in ’81 and retired as an emeritus professor in 2011. He spent 15 years in newspapering, wrote a history of Nevada journalism, textbooks on reporting and editing and 16 books, which are collections of his columns in the Sparks Tribune for 25 years. Recipients of this award will be full-time students, pursuing a journalism major in news with a 2.75 GPA.
