Fred and Cheryl Olson Endowed Scholarship

Fred Olson 67 (music education) performed with the marching band, concert band, jazz band, orchestra and choir and later worked as an instructor at the University of Nevada Lake Tahoe Music Camp. Cheryl Lymbery Olson 68 (biology) was a member of the first graduating class from Earl Wooster High School. It was during their time at the University that Fred and Cheryl were introduced when a friend majoring in music and drama convinced Cheryl to help out in the drama department as a property manager for the production of “The Madwoman of Chaillot” and invited Fred to join them in finding the perfect birdcage needed for the production. Fred and Cheryl established this scholarship because they believe the state of Nevada produces an abundance of quality students who deserve the opportunity to continue their education at the University of Nevada. Recipients shall be full-time undergraduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have graduated from a Nevada high school and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is renewable annually, up to four consecutive years.
