Matt Boroughf Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Matt Boroughf 99 (mechanical engineering) spent his first two years out of high school at Truckee Meadows Community College discovering his passions. He chose mechanical engineering because of his love of working with his hands. Throughout his years at Nevada he continued to work a full-time job and paid his way through school, graduating with zero college debt. Matt believed in education and furthering oneself. He believed in being financially responsible and working hard for everything. Matt passed away in 2015 from cancer and his wife Laura established this memorial scholarship to honor Matt s sincere and great appreciation for the University of Nevada, Reno and the College of Engineering. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need and be pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to transfer students from any community college and preference will be given to students with a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
