Sierra Watercolor Society Art Scholarship

Formed in 1989 by a group of like-minded watercolor painters, the mission of Sierra Watercolor Society (SWS) is to foster, sustain and increase interest and skills in the art of watermedia painting through the sponsorship of meetings, educational programs, displays and exhibitions. The society established this scholarship in 2017 to support full-time students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or a Masters of Fine Arts degree in the Department of Art at the University of Nevada, Reno. Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 to receive and retain the award a minimum 3.0 GPA in the Department of Art. Preference will be provided to students who are painters and whose portfolio supports an interest in watercolor or other water media (such as gouache or acrylics).
