Joe and Joy Crowley Endowed Scholarship

Joe and Joy (Reitz) were married on September 9, 1961 and they have four children and seven grandchildren. All four children are University of Nevada, Reno graduates: Theresa 85 (speech pathology), Neil 89 (German), Margaret 87 (English) and Tim 92 (geography). Joe joined the University of Nevada, Reno as a faculty member in January 1966 and served as chairman of the political science department from 1976-78. He was named interim president of the University in 1978 and a year later was named to the role of president. He would serve as University president for 23 years until December 31, 2000, including a return as interim president in 2006. Recipients of this scholarship shall be participants in the Dean s Future Scholars program pursuing an undergraduate degree.
