Ort Women in Health Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Carol Ort, Professor Emerita of the University of Nevada, Reno Department of Biology, is establishing this scholarship endowment to support young women pursuing a career in health care. She hopes that this scholarship will support the education of undergraduate students in the College of Science, particularly those from underrepresented groups, who need financial assistance to reach their goals of graduation from the University and a career in health care. Dr. Ort also hopes that scholarship recipients will want to remember the help that they received while in college and pay it forward in the future such that, once they have established their careers, they will want to support students at the University with mentoring and scholarship donations. Preference shall be given to female students who: 1) are in the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program, or 2) are members of the Minority Association of Pre-Med Students (MAPS) student group and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
