Karen Gilbert Williams Music Education Endowed Scholarship

Karen Williams ’70 (zoology) and her husband, Steven Williams, established this endowed scholarship to support teachers returning to school in order to teach music. Karen, who had a career as a medical technologist, returned to the University of Nevada, Reno to complete her teaching credentials in 1989 and followed her dream of teaching music in Washoe County schools until her retirement. Recipients shall be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degreee in music education and shall have and maintain a 3.0 GPA to receive and retain this award. Preference shall be given to current teachers returning to shcool to fulfill a Nevada teaching licensure in music education.
