Justice James W. Hardesty Endowed Scholarship

In 2020, the Nevada Alumni Association of the University of Nevada, Reno named Supreme Court Justice James W. Hardesty 70 (accounting) the 2020 Alumnus of the Year, a prestigious recognition that is presented to a Nevada graduate who has rendered special and outstanding service to the University and by personal achievement has brought distinction to the University. He served on the Nevada Alumni Council during the 1970s and 1980s, and was named an Honor Court Silver Benefactor in 2005. Hardesty has been a loyal supporter of Nevada Wolf Pack Athletics and served on the Nevada Women s Athletics Pack Paws Advisory Board during 2007-08. This scholarship was established by the State Bar of Nevada in Justice Hardesty s name to assist students from underrepresented groups in overcoming the economic barriers of admission to law school. The scholarship seeks to assist students in offsetting the costs of preparing for law school, potentially including those costs of the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) Preparatory class. Recipients shall be pursuing a graduate degree or an undergraduate degree with a sophomore or higher standing.
