Howard E. Browne Scholarship Endowment

Howard E. Browne attended Nevada from 1914 to 1918. He was the first person in his family to go to college and he went on to Harvard Law School and finished at Yale Law School. To his dismay he never received a law degree but was able to pass the Nevada Bar exam in 1927. After passing the bar exam he became the District Attorney of Lander County and spent 57 years as a practicing lawyer. This fund was established in 1974 with a gift from Howard’s estate to benefit entering freshman from Lander and Humboldt Counties.
