Ruth Palmer Archabal Scholarship
Established in 2006 by Richard 67 (accounting) and Carolyn Banis 67 (speech/theater) 78 M.S. (speech pathology) who both grew up in rural Nevada and understand the financial hardships that a college education can pose on a rural family. Ruth Palmer Archabal, Richard s aunt, was the hospital administrator at White Pine County Hospital in Ely and the Banis established this fund in her memory. Recipients shall be Nevada residents and students who graduated from schools located in the Ely/White Pine County area will be given priority consideration. If no students are eligible from the Ely/White Pine County area, students residing in, or who graduated from high schools located in all other rural counties in Nevada may be considered (not to include Washoe or Clark County). Recipients must be full-time students with at least a 3.0 GPA demonstrating financial need.
