Spasov Family Annual Scholarship

Vassil A. Spasov 99 Ph.D. (chemical physics), a systems engineering manager, and Julia S. Spasov 99 Ph.D. (chemical physics), a senior manufacturing engineer, met at Sofia University and then went to the University of Nevada, Reno pursuing their doctorate degrees. Together, they wish to establish this annual scholarship to support graduate students in the College of Science in the areas of chemistry, physics and mathematics. Just as Julia benefited from a scholarship that helped their young family, the Spasovs wish to pay that kindness forward by supporting College of Science students. Recipients shall be full or part-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the College of Science with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Preference shall be given to recipients studying chemistry, physics or mathematics. Recipient must meet one of the following criteria: a) at least one published paper, b) parent(s)/guardian(s) of at least one child, c) special consideration given to students who have demonstrated experience in or a commitment to working to promote the advancement of women.
