Melvin and Mildred Beaver Scholarship
Melvin W. Beaver 76 (social work) worked as an engineer for more than three decades, and then turned his energies toward drug counseling at the Veterans Administration Medical Center as a chaplain’s assistant. His late wife Mildred Beaver attended the university for three years in the late 1930’s majoring in accounting. She was born in Fallon and was a lifelong resident of Nevada. This scholarship fund was established in their memory by Melvin and Mildred Beaver’s sons, Ed and James, and their wives Linda Malamas and Jami Beaver, to assist students who plan to work in nursing. Recipients shall be Nevada residents who are single parents and full time junior or senior nursing students with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
